Frankfurt/Main - IonGate Biosciences GmbH celebrated its election as “Landmark in the Land of Ideas“ by the initiative “Germany – Land of Ideas”. IonGate’s patented SURFE2R Technology (SURFace Electrogenic Event Reader) won the jury’s acclaim in the nationwide contest “365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas”. SURFE2R Technology enables scientists to detect extremely small electric currents in cell membranes. Thus, it becomes possible to analyze the otherwise poorly accessible class of transporters more precisely than ever before. Transporters are interesting targets for pharmaceuticals since they control pivotal functions like muscular and neural activity. Therefore, SURFE2R Technology and the devices based on this technology are useful tools in drug development.

| 2008-09-17 IonGate boosts marketing and sales efforts in the US with new funding |
Frankfurt/Main - IonGate Biosciences GmbH announces the closing of a new round of funding amounting to EUR 1 million. The capital contribution comes in as the new investor Hessen Kapital I GmbH joins in a silent partnership with IonGate and it will be used for further expansion of the US business as well as for the increase of the global commercialization of SURFE2R Technology (SURFace Electrogenic Event Reader).

| 04.09.2008 For the first time, IonGate's SURFE²R Technology allows electrical measurements of transport proteins in native mitochondrial membranes |
Standard electrophysiological techniques rely on the expression of transport proteins at plasma membrane. In contrary, the SURFE2R Technology is suitable for direct functional measurements of transporter proteins in intracellular compartments as had already been demonstrated for synaptic vesicles, PC12 vesicles and endosomes. Now, IonGate has expanded the applicability of the SURFE2R Technology to native mitochondrial membranes.
